Week 39, March 25, 2012

Well it's been a frantic two weeks since our last posting but much has happened. Lets start with our X Spot photo and go inside from there as that's where everything is happening.  If you look close above the sawhorse you will see the vent for the stove top hood.

And in the kitchen we finally have our beautiful cabinets with appliances in place (not installed yet) awaiting the Quartz counter tops. Also most of the lighting has been installed just this week.

 Moving to the living room entrance and shooting toward kitchen you see the floor awaiting its final two coats of Polyurethane and also the over head and wall lights.

As a matter of fact all the floors are now sanded primed and waiting for the finish coats. here is the guest bedroom.

And finally the upstairs "away room" with its outside doors installed.

And in the entry the floor is finished around the "Flower of Life" Ane's favorite symbol.

Speaking of the entry way we have unfinished front doors!!

We had a tremendous amount of rain this week and much of the time the ground around the house was a lake but it seems to drain well. Here is the stream the flows under the front gate to Santa Anita which is usually just a trickle.

The Sewer trench and water line trench await their respective utilities. They have been waiting since early February.

and at the end of the street the turnaround takes shape with curbs going in around the cobble stones awaiting the street.

In the garage the water cistern awaits the cement floor and brick walls of its new home outside the master bath corner of the house.

And around the corner the electrical panel awaits the finishing touches of our electrician. 

Soooo... thats all for this week, upcoming is the wood floor finish tomorrow morning and then no walking on it for 5 days which will slow things down and then the next week the counter tops come for the kitchen and the bathrooms. Stay tuned.

Week 37, March 11, 2012

Here we have the X spot photo, not much to see from here this week

Earlier this week all but 4 of our window frames arrived

And on Friday glass was installed, next week rest of windows and also the Doors!

Early in the week the kitchen cabinets arrived. Unfortunately several of the cabinets were constructed incorrectly and had to be redone. Hopefully late next week we will have our kitchen cabinets done.

Here is a shot of the inside of the island waiting for the dishwasher and counter tops.

The entryway "flower of life" ceramic has been installed and awaits grout and the final inner circle of "rustic" tile next week.

As well as the Master bath cabinets 

Mean while the flooring progress' with media room, master bedroom and office installed.

Ane has finally made it to the second floor this week as the stairs are mostly installed.

Ane says the roof reminds her of the roofs in southern Europe .

Week 36 - Feb 4, 2012

Well there is lots of things to update this week, we start with the X Spot showing finished outside paint. (inside is 90%done too)

Going around the house here is shot from SE corner.

and now from the NE corner.

and on around to the right front NW corner of the house.

Went over Thursday last week and the house was a beehive of activity see the following activities:

1. finishing up the office fireplace chimney.

2. Hardwood floors going in.

3 and 4. Windows and gutters being installed.

5. Pit being dug for the Septic system.(later to be filled in as it filled up with water).

On Saturday we found the pits filled in and ditch being dug for city sewer hookup.

6. back to activity on Thursday: Stairs finally going in. (soon Ane will see the upstairs)

7. the tile work was finished in guest bathroom;

here is the accent tile work in shower. 

8. And there was a team in the Master bathroom also laying tile. Here is the results

Here in the shower we have a niche for shampoo and soap

Continuing with the Saturday Photos; the Living area wood floor is installed 

And the Entryway tile is awaiting the installation of the Flower of Life

We recieved the Flower Ceramics and laid it out on our Living Room floor, very happy the way it looks, it will be installed next week!!

Well that's all for this week. 

We are really getting excited and hope to be moving in about 3 weeks.

Week 35, Feb 25, 2012

This weeks X spot shows scaffolding and some white paint.

The workers are scraping the outside part of the roof beams and then painting as they go. Also the roof is completely finished this week!! 

Inside most walls have been painted down to the floor level.

As seen in the master bedroom.

In the master bath they have started tiling the walls.

And the tub enclosure awaits the installation of the tub and its tiles.

In the office they have started the last of the fireplaces.

On Sunday we went back to our new favorite restaurant located at 

Hacienda San Isidro. This is a 200 year old hacienda which used to encompass  over ten thousand hectars but is still a working ranch with 1,500 hectars.

Here is a tree which is about 300 years old that stands above the parking lot.

As we entered the grounds we were greeted by the welcome committee made up of   

their flock of ducks and geese.

On the corner wall of the entrance patio is a ceramic placard depicting the bulls they raise and their brand SI for San Isidro.

Here is one of the dining room table settings, very nice eating atmosphere.

After lunch we took a walk around the grounds and of course our escorts showed up.

I even caught Volcan Cotacachi poking her nose out of the low hanging clouds, first 

sighting in over a week.

It was a very enjoyable afternoon and we have added San Isidro to our list of 

eating choices. See you next week..
